What you will experience

Words your colleagues wouldn't understand. And the one that appears when you're on the phone with your mum or when you're angry or when you've had two drinks and someone plays a song that takes you back. Code switching is a survival skill that nobody taught you formally but you mastered anyway. You learned it the same way you learned everything else about navigating two worlds. By watching. By getting it wrong. By reading rooms faster than anyone in them realised. This experience celebrates that. It's an evening where every accent, every register, every version of how you speak is not just allowed but requested. I'll run sessions that pull different voices out. Tell this story like you'd tell your friend. Now tell it like you'd tell your boss. Now tell it like you'd tell your grandmother. Watch how the room changes when someone switches from received pronunciation to their mother tongue mid sentence and the whole place erupts because everyone knows that transition. We'll play games. Translate corporate jargon into Pidgin. Tell a fairy tale in your most formal voice. Give a best man speech in your home accent. Read a poem first in English then in your language. The laughter in this room will be different from any laughter you've heard because it comes from recognition. From the joy of being in a room where every version of yourself is not only understood but celebrated.
